• Jim Sanford, 72, and his wife, Jean Holden, 70, both retired from the aerospace industry and moved to Mammoth Lakes, CA to lead an active retirement. They serve as Ski Hosts on Mammoth Mountain where they greet arriving visitors, help them park and get their gear to the lifts. This is their 10th year as Ski Hosts

Jim also serves guests on the mountain by skiing the 3500 acres of terrain and assisting the winter visitors with directions to certain runs and generally making sure that everyone is skiing or snowboarding safely.

There are over 100 Ski Hosts at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. All are expected to have friendly, outgoing personalities as well as
knowledge of our area and availability to work at least 60 days during the season. Benefits include pay, an employee and dependent season passes good throughout the company holdings and discounts at food and retail locations at all Mammoth Resort properties. Most would also say the camaraderie built within the program is what keeps them involved. The program started in 1988 with a small number of volunteers.
