A woman takes names to place on the list that controls who will be allowed to present themselves to US authorities to seek political asylum. Migrants are waiting months in line before their number is called.
Migrants mostly from Honduras and Guatemala fleeing gang violence and death threats traveled nearly a month before arriving in Tijuana, Mexico where they planned to seek asylum at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Migrants must get their name on the list managed by another migrant and wait to be called. The wait can take months. Thousands of names were already on the list as thousands of more migrants have arrived in recent days.
