The migrant caravan that made its way from Central America through Mexico to the US border included a large number of LGBTQ migrants. Fleeing persecution and death threats, the LGBTQ migrants are fearful of staying in a public shelter.

Migrants fleeing Central America and parts of Southern Mexico traveled nearly a month before arriving in Tijuana, Mexico where they were placed in shelters. The migrants planned to ask for asylum while presenting themselves to authorities at the US Port of Entry at San Ysidro, CA.
