Yosemite's Warm Winter

Not since the 1930's has Tioga Pass allowed visitors into Yosemite after the first week of January. The route, also known as SR 120, is typically closed for winter due to snow and ice blanketing Tuolumne Meadows and other upper regions of Yosemite National Park. But the winter of 2011-12 is proving to be different. Extremely warm temperatures and trace amounts of snow in the Eastern Sierras have allowed Yosemite to remain open for visitors to enjoy.
