DACA Protest After Trump Ends Program

President Trump fulfilled a campaign promise to eliminate DACA, the landmark 2012 program created by President Barack Obama.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals opened an avenue for young people known as Dreamers to leave the uncertainty of deportation behind by passing a set of background checks and benchmarks to receive guarantees they would not be deported. Over 800,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US as children by their parents enrolled.
President Trump ended the program on September 5, 2017 causing people to spill into the streets around the country in protest.
